The rooms at Tollgates in Rye are super cozy and comfy, making me feel right at home. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, with both a shower and a bath. Plus, there are hair dryers and irons/ironing boards provided, making it easy to freshen up and look my best. As a laid-back traveler, I loved the relaxed vibes of the place.
The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was the fact that there are only 3 bathrooms for 5 bedrooms. However, this is just my personal opinion, and I'm sure others wouldn't mind sharing the facilities.

I simply adored the charming decor of the cottage at Tollgates in Rye. It felt like stepping back in time with its lovely Georgian style and homely charm. As a senior woman, I truly appreciate when a hotel has character and a warm atmosphere. The general areas were spacious and well-appointed, providing plenty of room to relax and socialize with my friends. Additionally, the cottage's location was ideal for seniors like me, with easy access to the town of Rye and its amenities. It was lovely to have everything we needed within a short walk, including shops, cafes, and even a supermarket. The walk from the train station was manageable, and despite the last few minutes being along an unlit road, it felt safe and tranquil. Tollgates provided a delightful and accessible retreat for senior guests like myself.
If I had one small request for an even better vacation experience for senior people at Tollgates, it would be to have the availability of a hot tub. While it was not in use during my stay, this would have been a delightful addition for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Had a blast hiking and playing table tennis in this lovely cottage. Free WiFi helped me stay connected while enjoying the garden and terrace. Felt like a movie star with all the safety features and the LCD TV with digital channels. Very cozy!
Oh, and don't worry, they don't have a hot tub. Such a shame, I was really looking forward to soaking in the bubbles while sipping champagne.

The town is absolutely adorable with all the essentials for a weekend getaway, like supermarkets and cozy pubs. Plus, there are cute little cafes and independent shops to explore. The cottage itself is a 15-minute walk from the train station , but it's totally worth it. It's spacious enough for 9 people without feeling crowded, and it's got that cozy, homely vibe that you won't find in other rentals. The kitchen is top-notch, fully equipped and big enough to handle all your cooking needs. And let's not forget the awesome footpath along the river just a stone's throw away. Plenty of beautiful walks to enjoy in the area!
Honestly, there's not much to complain about. But, if I had to be picky, it would be nice if the hot tub was available.
